He was joined by Dr Ashwin Karuppan V, Head of Department and Senior Consultant, Internal Medicine & Diabetology, along with Dr Nageswar Rao K, Cluster Chief Executive Officer for Chennai & Hyderabad, Gleneagles Hospitals.
C.O.D.E offers a range of support services for individuals living with diabetes, including educational resources, a dedicated helpline, personalised consultations with doctors, networking opportunities, and complimentary annual health checks. The club also organises exclusive events to help individuals take control of their health while staying informed about the latest developments in diabetes care. The call centre aims to provide guidance on healthy lifestyle choices, diabetes prevention, and effective management, particularly for young people.
Dr Ashwin Karuppan V highlighted the growing burden of diabetes in India, where over 101 million people are currently diagnosed with the condition, with another 136 million in the pre-diabetic stage.
"The rising prevalence of diabetes is driven by urbanisation, genetic factors, and lifestyle changes. Many people are unaware of their condition until complications arise, making early detection and continuous monitoring essential. Through initiatives like C.O.D.E, we aim to enhance diabetes care by encouraging structured patient engagement and proactive health management," he said.
Emphasising the importance of a comprehensive approach to diabetes management, Dr Ashwin added, "Effective diabetes care goes beyond medication — it requires education, lifestyle adjustments, and ongoing support. C.O.D.E is a step towards providing patient-centred care, ensuring individuals have access to expert medical advice, the latest technology, and a supportive community to help them manage their condition."
Dr Nageswar Rao K reaffirmed Gleneagles Hospital’s commitment to advancing patient care, stating, "We have always focused on delivering high-quality healthcare through a combination of medical expertise, innovation, and patient-first initiatives. The launch of C.O.D.E strengthens our efforts to make healthcare more accessible and proactive. By integrating the latest medical research with personalised support, we aim to create a comprehensive care ecosystem for our patients."
