It was a wild night to remember as some 3,000 staff from Singapore Operations Division partied together as animals, explorers, elves and even bananas at the sold-out ‘Jungle Funkle’ Dinner & Dance on 12 October.
Fun and laughter aside, the event also recognised staff who went the extra mile for patients. Special tribute was paid to Dr Tan See Leng, GCEO and Managing Director, who is retiring in December after 15 years of service.
The jungle theme celebrates the colourful and diverse people that make up Parkway Pantai. In keeping with tradition, the evening kicked off with an energetic opening dance by senior management.
Following that, Phua Tien Beng, Chief Executive Officer of Singapore Operations Division, presented plaques to individuals and teams who were featured in the Project Thousand Miles campaign videos. Aimed at inspiring a culture of service excellence, the initiative was launched in January to an ambitious target goal of 1,000 ‘walk the extra mile’ stories from Singapore Operations staff in 2019. The team exceeded expectations by clocking 1,101 miles (stories) by the night of the event. Kudos to all contributors.
This year’s Dinner & Dance also featured a surprise dedication segment for Dr Tan. The outgoing IHH and Parkway Pantai chief was serenaded with a song and dance performance. He also received a pair of specially commissioned calligraphic work created with his Chinese name and a memento book penned by staff across Singapore Operations. To mark his appreciation, Dr Tan also sang his very own rendition of Abba’s ‘Thank you for the music’ to thank the staff for their support over the years.
More excitement followed with the Best Dressed contest and luck draws, where a host of attractive prizes were given out. Many party animals continued to dance the night away, to the beat of the concrete jungle.
