Promoting Hand Hygiene With Guinness World Record
27 Nov 2023

Fostering a culture of cleanliness and empowering future generations with the knowledge and practice of good hand hygiene is essential to secure a healthier future.

Gleneagles Hospitals Bengaluru’s Clean Hands Save Lives campaign has educated more than 80,000 students across 55 schools on crucial hand hygiene practices since its launch on 21 June 2023. The campaign aims to instill the habit of regular hand cleaning and sanitisation among children, transcending beyond pandemic situations.

At the grand finale of the campaign on 22 November, the hospital gathered an unprecedented 9,860 participants to set a Guinness World Record for "Most People Sanitising Their Hands Simultaneously."

“This is more than a massive record-setting endeavour. We are here to send a powerful message to the world about the importance of hand hygiene in our daily lives. As a global healthcare network, IHH aspires to Care. For Good. Through public outreach campaigns such as Clean Hands Save Lives, we contribute actively to the health and well-being of our community, doing our part to build a healthier world, one hand at a time,” shared Dr Prem Kumar Nair, Group CEO of IHH Healthcare.

Anurag Yadav, Chief Executive Officer, IHH Healthcare India, also emphasised IHH’s deep commitment to preventative healthcare by leading a change in public health beyond hospital walls to the community.

We are immensely proud of the lasting impact that the Clean Hands Save Lives campaign has left on the community, and how it has set a precedence for promoting hand hygiene and other good hygiene habits for years to come.
