Championing Healthy Lifestyles In Brunei
25 Jun 2024

With a generous donation of BND$250,000, Gleneagles JPMC has kickstarted a series of impactful health promotion programmes in partnership with the Brunei Ministry of Health, continuing a six-year tradition of fostering wellness in the community.

On May 15, the MOU signing ceremony at Tarindak D’Polo, Royal Brunei Polo Club in Jerudong was graced by Brunei’s Minister of Health, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohammad Isham Haji Jaafar.

Dr Peter Tay, Chief Executive Officer of Gleneagles JPMC, explains why supporting healthier lifestyles is a cornerstone of its corporate responsibility.

“We believe that healthcare is a fundamental pillar of a thriving society. Our mission extends beyond providing exceptional medical services to our patients; we are also deeply committed to contributing to the overall health and wellness of our nation. Today’s donation is a testament to this commitment,” he said.

Gleneagles JPMC’s donation is funding several key programmes:

Workplace and Health (WAH) Programme: Since 2019, over 25,000 civil servants across ministries have benefitted from health screenings and 717 exercise sessions. The pilot weight loss programme, Fit & Active Lifestyle Club (FALC), has seen amazing results, with 10.5% of participants losing over 5% of their body weight.

Happy Environment and Lifestyle (HEAL) Programme: Launched in 2022, the community health and wellness initiative has engaged 1,599 participants through seven health events.

Growing, Learning, Optimising Towards Better Well-Being in Schools (GLOW) Programme: Piloted in six schools, this programme is set to exoand to more government and private schools, promoting student health.

Other health programmes: Brunei is also promoting healthy eating through the national salt reduction programme and online healthy lifestyle course, which has already registered 3,000 participants and completed 1,142 modules.

Join us in celebrating these initiatives that are making a real difference in our community.
