IHH Healthcare Singapore and Para Athletics Singapore signed a groundbreaking two-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to improve the healthcare experience of local para-athletes.
This partnership marks the first collaboration between PAS and a healthcare provider, aiming to enhance healthcare services for para-athletes across various levels.
As part of the agreement, IHH Singapore is committing to sponsor 60 physiotherapy sessions, 24 occupational therapy sessions, 12 podiatry sessions, diagnostic imaging, and annual blood tests. Additionally, PAS and IHH Singapore will jointly develop educational initiatives and programs to support the well-being of the para-athletes. Athletes can now schedule consultations with IHH Singapore within a week, significantly reducing previous wait times that could extend to months with other providers.
IHH SG has established two scholarships and two professorships with local universities since 2000. Gifting a total of S$8.5 million to further medical education and research, these contributions are in the form of endowments to provide support in perpetuity.
In 2012, the Mount Elizabeth Gleneagles Scholarship was launched in collaboration with NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (YLLSOM). This S$2 million scholarship fund has since supported 12 cohorts of scholars, awarding 176 bond-free scholarships to aspiring medical students annually. Each scholarship is bond-free and awarded annually.
Since 2021, IHH Singapore has been a steadfast supporter of the Red Cross blood donation drive. Conducted quarterly, these drives underscore our commitment to saving and sustaining lives, a core tenet of healthcare. Our leaders and employees actively participate, recognising the indispensable role of blood in medical treatments and emergencies.
Our inaugural IHH Singapore Sea Regatta was a resounding success, and we were thrilled to be the title sponsor for this event, bringing our healthcare, corporate and community teams together to paddle, bond, and raise awareness for breast cancer. Minister for Health Mr Ong Ye Kung officiated the event.
150 staff came together to form 15 dragon boat teams and raced against other teams in eight race categories. More than 3,000 participants and spectators turned up for the race which saw participation from more than 45 local and international teams including teams from Singapore healthcare institutions.
