Joy Chua is the Director of Nursing at IHH Healthcare Malaysia. With over 25 years of nursing experience, she provides leadership and strategic direction to the nursing staff across IHH Healthcare Malaysia’s hospitals.
Joy plays a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of patient care, nursing practice and staff development. She closely collaborates with management to align nursing operations with the overall strategic goals of the organisation.
She works with hospital Directors of Nursing, Nurse Educators, healthcare professionals, and nursing support staff for clinical excellence, implementing quality improvement initiatives as needed. She also ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and professional guidelines. Additionally, she advocates for patient safety, quality improvement, and risk management in all aspects of nursing practice.
Joy advises the clinical and management teams across IHH Healthcare Malaysia on matters related to nursing services, including identifying opportunities for innovation in nursing practice, and integrating new technologies and care models.
A qualified nurse with an accreditation in Post Basic Infection Control, Joy trained in Singapore for the first eight years of her career before continuing her nursing pathway in Malaysia. With a long-standing career in the nursing and healthcare industry, Joy is a strong advocate for the nursing force, pushing for representation among key healthcare associations. In addition to her primary role, she serves as the Vice-Chairperson of the Nursing Chapter at the Association of Private Hospitals (APHM), where she advocates for the profession’s interests.
