Dr Kamal Amzan is the Regional Chief Executive Officer (Southern and Eastern) of IHH Healthcare Malaysia. He sets strategic direction and supervises operational functionalities across four hospitals in the region to maintain the highest standards of patient care and operational efficiency.
As Chief Executive Officer of Gleneagles Hospital Johor, he led transformative initiatives to position the hospital as a leading healthcare provider in the region.
Dr Kamal has advanced through various senior leadership positions at IHH Healthcare Malaysia, including serving as the Head of Medical Affairs and Quality for IHH Healthcare Malaysia, as well as the Chief Operating Officer of Pantai Hospital Batu Pahat.
With an 18-year tenure in the healthcare industry, Dr Kamal has distinguished himself not only in operational roles but also in governance. He holds board positions with the Malaysian Society for Quality in Health (MSQH) and the Association of Private Hospitals Malaysia (APHM). Dr Kamal has also contributed significantly to various forums, combining visionary goals with pragmatic solutions.
Dr Kamal served as a Medical Officer at the Ministry of Health from 2006 to 2013, where he contributed to clinical care, patient management, and the delivery of healthcare services.
From 2013 to 2015, he furthered his contributions to public health as a Public Health Specialist at Sabah Forest Industries Sdn Bhd. There, he led the establishment of clinics and mobile healthcare units for accessible healthcare.
His efforts in instituting a solid governance framework, formulating key policies, and enhancing medical benefits helped optimise staff welfare and shaped his comprehensive approach to healthcare management, demonstrating his dedication to enhancing healthcare access and quality.
