Shankar Gopal Krishnan is the Chief Operating Officer of Pantai Hospital Klang. He focuses on elevating patient care and driving operational improvements to enhance the hospital’s performance. Shankar was previously the Acting Chief Operating Officer of Pantai Hospital Klang where he successfully led hospital operations, staff management and strategic projects.
Shankar first joined IHH Healthcare Malaysia as Food & Beverage Manager of Pantai Hospital Ampang. He set up in-house F&B services, and also assisted Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Pantai Hospital Cheras and Pantai Hospital Klang with similar set-ups.
During the pandemic, Shankar prepared Pantai Hospital Ampang operationally for COVID-19 management. He was also the Head of Sustainability at the hospital where he led sustainability efforts including reducing and eliminating single use plastic bottles and other disposable products. He headed the Solar Panel Project for the hospital which was successfully launched in April 2024.
He was thereafter promoted to Senior Operations Manager where he led expansion of services and licensing for the Cath Lab, Health Screening Centre, Endoscopy Unit and new consultant clinics.
Shankar successfully led Pantai Hospital Ampang through two Malaysian Society for Quality in Health (MSQH) recertification exercises to ensure that it meets recognised standards for quality, patient safety, and operational excellence.
He is a Six Sigma Green Belt Holder and has advised and coached other Heads of Department on projects such as Improving Patient Admission and Discharge time.
